Hajia Mariam Mojisola, a Princess of Sepeteri in Saki East Local Government Council of Oyo State, was educated at Igboora High School, St Andrews College of Education (now Emmanuel Alayande College of Education), Oyo, University of Ibadan and University of Lagos. She holds the National Certificate in Education (NCE), Bachelor of Education (Special Education/Mental Retardation) and Master’s Degree in Education (Educational Foundations).

Hajia Popoola’s working career spanned social work, teaching and entrepreneurship. She had her national youth service (NYSC) as a Social Worker at the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta in 1989/90 service year. She joined the Teaching Service of Oyo State and was at Cheshire School for the Handicapped between 1990 and 1991. She was in the Teaching Service Commission of Lagos State where she served for thirteen years between January 1992 and October 2005 retiring as Assistant Chief Education Officer. Within the thirteen years, she served at New State High School, Mushin, Lagos and Oregun High School teaching History and Yoruba Language. While in active teaching service, she was a WAEC Examiner and, at a time, the Head of Department of Yoruba Language at Oregun High School.

Her retirement from the teaching service of Lagos State in 2005 was to enable her give full attention to The Tenets Schools, which she co-founded in 2003. The school has blossomed and is a model for Muslim Nursery and Primary schools in Lagos State.

To pursue her entrepreneurial desire and to make her contributions towards an efficient and stress – free hajj and umrah, Hajia Mariam Popoola established the TOMEB Travels and Tours in 2005, a full-fledged travel and tours company with special interest in hajj, umrah and educational tours. She is the Managing Director/CEO of Tomeb Travels and Tours.

Hajia Popoola’s entire life has been dedicated to moulding minds of children and youths through education and spiritual tourism. She belongs to a number of professional societies and sits on the Board of Governors of Muslim High School, Sepeteri, Oyo State.

She co – founded the TOMEB Foundation with her husband focussing on youth development, education, entrepreneurship and the environment.
